Connect Autodesk Docs to Sterling for Smarter Takeoff, Faster Cost Planning and Complete Revision Control

The Autodesk Docs integration enables project teams to connect their Autodesk construction and design environment directly with Sterling. This allows users to import both 2D drawings and 3D models into Sterling for digital takeoff, quantity verification, estimating and cost planning activities without relying on disconnected file transfers or manual uploads.

By linking design information directly to estimates and cost plans, teams can improve accuracy, reduce duplication of effort and maintain a clear connection between project design data and commercial outcomes. Quantities, drawings and model references remain associated with the relevant estimate items, improving transparency and collaboration across pre construction and delivery teams.

The integration also supports revision management workflows. When updated drawings or models are published by the design team within Autodesk Docs, Sterling can identify revisions and help users manage changes efficiently. This reduces the risk of working from outdated information and provides greater confidence in estimating accuracy throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Benefits

  • Centralised access to live drawings and models from Autodesk Docs

  • Faster and more accurate digital takeoff workflows

  • Improved revision tracking and change management

  • Stronger alignment between design information and commercial data

Features

  • Direct Autodesk Docs Integration - Connect Sterling directly to Autodesk Docs using secure authentication. This allows authorised users to browse and access project files without manual exports or uploads.

  • 2D Drawing Takeoff - Import drawing sheets into Sterling for quantity takeoff and measurement workflows. Drawings remain linked to estimates and cost plans for improved traceability.

  • 3D Model Integration - Access federated or discipline specific 3D models directly within Sterling. Model based quantity verification helps improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.

  • Revision Management - Automatically identify updated drawings and model revisions published by the design team. Users can review changes and maintain alignment between revisions and existing estimates.

  • Linked Commercial Workflows - Associate drawings and models directly with estimating and cost planning items. This creates a connected workflow between design development and commercial management.

  • Secure User Authentication - Authenticate users securely through Autodesk authorisation workflows. Access permissions remain controlled through Autodesk account permissions and project access levels.
