Alistair Kirk Joins Sterling to Drive Cost & Carbon Innovation

Experienced infrastructure and defence leader joins Sterling to support the future of digital cost and carbon estimating

As the construction industry continues its digital transformation, organisations are under increasing pressure to deliver projects more efficiently, reduce risk, improve cost certainty and demonstrate measurable progress towards sustainability goals. These challenges are reshaping how projects are planned, estimated and delivered, creating demand for integrated digital solutions that connect commercial, technical and environmental data from the earliest stages of a project.

To support its continued growth and long term strategy, Sterling DCS Ltd (SDCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Alistair Kirk as a Non Executive Advisor.

With more than thirty five years of leadership experience across infrastructure, transport and defence, Alistair brings extensive expertise in programme management, governance, project controls and organisational transformation. Throughout his career he has held senior leadership positions with organisations including BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, HS2, Network Rail and Arcadis, helping deliver some of the United Kingdom's largest and most complex programmes.

His appointment reflects SDCS's commitment to combining innovative technology with experienced industry leadership as the company continues to expand across construction, infrastructure, defence, energy and public sector markets.

Helping Shape the Future of Cost & Carbon Estimating

The construction industry is changing rapidly.

Clients expect greater transparency.

Contractors are under pressure to improve productivity.

Governments are introducing increasingly demanding sustainability targets.

Project teams require more accurate information earlier in the project lifecycle than ever before.

Traditional estimating processes often rely on disconnected spreadsheets, separate carbon assessments and manual workflows that create unnecessary duplication, increase commercial risk and reduce confidence in project outcomes.

Sterling was created to address these challenges.

Its cloud based platform combines resource based cost estimating, embodied carbon estimating, digital takeoff, forecasting, lifecycle management and reporting within a single connected environment. By managing both cost and carbon from the same estimating data, organisations can make better informed decisions while improving consistency across commercial and sustainability teams.

The platform supports contractors, consultants, clients and asset owners delivering projects across commercial construction, infrastructure, defence, nuclear, utilities and energy sectors.

Supporting Major Infrastructure and Secure Programmes

As governments continue to invest in nationally significant infrastructure, digital technology has become an increasingly important part of project delivery.

Major programmes require accurate estimating, robust governance and trusted project information. They also require confidence that the technology supporting these projects has been developed with security, resilience and long term support in mind.

SDCS has invested heavily in providing a secure, scalable SaaS platform, Sterling, designed and developed in the UK. The platform supports UK hosted deployments together with secure cloud environments suitable for organisations delivering highly regulated projects.

This approach is becoming increasingly important across defence, nuclear and critical national infrastructure programmes, where organisations require software providers that understand the importance of data governance, security by design and digital resilience.

Alistair's experience delivering nationally significant programmes provides valuable strategic insight as SDCS continues to develop solutions that meet the needs of these complex environments.

Combining Industry Experience with Modern Technology

Technology alone does not transform organisations.

Successful digital transformation requires an understanding of how projects are delivered, how programme controls operate and how governance supports better decision making.

Alistair's experience complements SDCS's technical expertise by bringing decades of practical knowledge from organisations responsible for some of the largest infrastructure investments in the UK.

Working alongside SDCS's executive team, he will provide strategic guidance on programme management, project controls and industry best practice while supporting the company's long term growth strategy.

Commenting on his appointment, Alistair Kirk said:

I am delighted to be joining Sterling DCS at such an exciting stage in the company's journey. The construction industry is evolving rapidly and organisations are looking for better ways to connect cost, carbon and project data to make faster and more informed decisions.

Sterling DCS has developed a modern platform that genuinely addresses these challenges. The combination of innovation, technical capability and a clear long term vision gives the business an excellent foundation for continued growth. I look forward to supporting the leadership team as they continue to establish Sterling as the leading solutions for cost and carbon estimating.

Investing in the Future of Construction Technology

SDCS continues to invest in product innovation across digital estimating, artificial intelligence, open integrations and cloud technologies.

The company's vision is to provide a connected digital platform where estimating, carbon management, project controls and construction data work together, enabling organisations to make better commercial and sustainability decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

Steve Brunning, Chief Executive Officer of SDCS, commented:

"Our ambition is to become the leading platform for cost and carbon estimating, helping organisations make better commercial and sustainability decisions through connected digital workflows. We are delighted to welcome Alistair as a Non Executive Advisor and look forward to the contribution he will make as we continue our next phase of growth."

As Sterling continues to expand across the UK and international markets, the appointment reinforces the company's commitment to combining industry expertise with innovative technology that helps customers deliver projects with greater certainty, improved collaboration and better outcomes.
