We’re excited to introduce a series of enhancements aimed at streamlining your workflow and enhancing your experience within Sterling. Our latest release brings a range of features designed to provide you with greater flexibility, efficiency, and control over your projects. 

 

Cost Planning & Smart Builder Enhancements

2D & 3D Take-off Viewer Modals – You can now open take-off views for cost items directly within 2D and 3D modals, allowing seamless referencing without leaving the Cost Plan.

Improved Structure Management – Cost items from your library now retain structure assignments when imported, and you can choose whether to bring structure or not when adding items. Structure views also remember your last-used setting, streamlining your workflow.

Persistent Selection – We’ve refined drag-and-drop behaviour so selected items stay selected, improving batch operations and multi-item editing.

Flexible Item Codes – Cost item codes are now more adaptable, with improved validation that supports better numbering logic from the root node down.

Forecasting Improvements

Cost Item Splitting – Forecasts can now split cost items into activities, supporting more granular tracking and reporting.

Deletion Safeguards – We’ve added protections to prevent accidental deletion of cost items that are already assigned to the programme.

Take-off Enhancements (2D & 3D)

AutoFilter for Grids – New AutoFilter options allow you to refine both 2D and 3D grid views quickly and intuitively.

Formula Entry for 2D Measurements – You can now apply manual formulae directly to your measurements grid, offering more flexibility during quantification.

Assigned vs Unassigned Filters (3D) – Quickly filter your 3D view to show only assigned or unassigned items, making it easier to manage take-off status.

Model Tree Viewer (3D) – The 3D viewer now includes a model tree, allowing faster navigation of complex structures.

Improved Drag & Drop to Cost Plan – Drag-and-drop functionality has been restored and enhanced, making it easy to assign take-off items directly to cost items.

Bug Fixes & Refinements – We’ve fixed issues related to naming, grouping, parameter grids, and TOI creation in both 2D and 3D environments.

Other Enhancements 
  • Performance Improvements – We’ve made underlying updates to improve the speed and responsiveness of assigning cost items to structure, along with general system performance enhancements.

  • UI & General Enhancements – From toolbar refactoring and header spacing to wrapping text fixes and panel display improvements, we’ve implemented dozens of refinements across the platform to improve usability, accessibility, and visual clarity.

  • Lifecycle Management – Planned Maintenance Fixes. 
    We’ve improved cost field mapping and total cost calculations in the Lifecycle module’s planned maintenance table.
